Nuba Mountains Agriculture Secretariat is appealing to communities to engage in mixed farming to avert looming hunger in the region.
Secretary for Agriculture and Food Security, Afsa Idriss Al-Mareen says poor rainfall last year has affected food production in the region, Radio Voice of Peace reports.
She says people should be economical on food consumption during the dry season.
Ms Idriss says there should be mixed farming helps in case one crop fails to yield at least the other could be productive.
The secretary urges people to be self-reliant rather than depending on seeds’ distribution.
