The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO is organizing training for fifty-five radio peace correspondents on conflict sensitive reporting in Juba.
The training expected to start on Tuesday through Thursday is funded by the European Union Search for Common Ground and UNDP.
The three-day workshop is also to equip radio peace correspondents with skills and knowledge on peace building, peaceful coexistence and nonviolence.
The correspondents are expected to get knowledge of how to conduct community peace forums which are very critical for national dialogue process and reconciliation.
Participants are drawn from the Radio for Peace Network that brings together correspondents trained as peace ambassadors from 14 community radio stations countrywide.
The correspondents are from Catholic Radio Network stations: Radio Good News of Rumbek, Voice of Hope of Wau, Radio Emmanuel of Torit, Easter Radio of Yei, Anisa of Tombura/Yambio, Don Bosco of Tonj Parish and Radio Bakhita of Juba.
Other stations include Star FM of Yei River State, Pibor Community Radio, Morobo FM, Jonglei FM in Bor and Voice of Freedom of Magwi, South Sudan Radio and Eye Radio.
