The Enough Project urges United States of America to create punishments for greedy political actors harming South Sudanese people with corrupt practices.
The call follows a report that South Sudan corruption level has increased considerably.
The report says corruption in South Sudan has shifted from integrated and self-sustaining system to disintegrative and self-destructing one due to economic crisis.
The rights’ body says the US should make a new executive order for sanctioning public corruption.
Use current sanctions’ programmes imposed on Belarus, Burma, Libya, Syria, Zimbabwe, Venezuela and Ukraine, it recommends.
The Enough Project also urges US lawmakers to influence anti-laundering authorities and financial intelligence.
The US has the authority to stop corrupt transactions because South Sudanese leaders use US Dollars in their deals, the rights’ body says.
