Gok State educates citizens on customary law and national dialogue

Gok State governor has started touring nine counties to educate citizens on customary law and national dialogue announced by President Salva Kiir last year.
 
Governor Madhang Majok with support of state officials and National Legislative Assembly members are talking with chiefs and community members about peace, security and development, Radio Good News reports.
 
Some aspects of customary law read to citizens include death by hanging for murder crime, revenge killing and commitment of communal fights.
 
Families of the offended shall receive blood compensation of 75 cows, but killing in self-defence shall be compensated with 31 cows, the law states.
 
The customary law also punishes cattle raiders with 15 years’ imprisonment.
