Imotong State Health Ministry in partnership with Lacor Hospital in Gulu, Uganda is initiating a new scientific research project to look into issues of mother-child wellbeing.
The project estimated to cost one million Canadian Dollars, will investigate and address problems of mother-child health in the state, Radio Emanuel reports.
Elijo Omoro, Project Principal Investigator says the research will make recommendations to donors for reduction of high maternal mortality rates in the area.
Oromo stresses the need to have scientifically driven approaches to South Sudan maternal health care system.
Clementina Lubaya, Acting Director-General in Imotong State Ministry of Health says once the project identifies major challenges of the mother-child health, it can implement the recommendations.
Dr Margret Itto, Imotong State Acting Minister of Health says evident-based research projects on health will help direct government’s decisions to deliver services correctly.
The mother-child project will run for five years.
It will operate in South Sudan and Uganda with support from the Canadian government.
