Lack of funding is forcing South Sudan Human Rights Commission to close down its offices in Equatoria, Upper Nile and Bahr El Ghazal regions, says Commissioner.

Fidensia Charles Lodu says the Commission was getting support from some UN agencies, but they changed their mandate to emergency because of the current situation.

She says the Commission could not pay rent and their staff cannot to carry out their duties to verify reports of human rights violations.

Victor Lodu Caesar says they had ten offices in the former ten states, but because of the austerity measures, they reduced the offices to three regions.

He confirms that the offices in the regions will also close down due to lack of money.

The officials did not mention when they will close the offices.
