The Governor of Tonj State is urging the people to prepare their land for cultivation ahead of the rainy season.
According to Radio Don Bosco, Akec Tong Aleu says South Sudanese should not depend on foreign aid when there is enough fertile land for agriculture.
He instructs the agriculture authorities in his state to gather all the twenty tractors and bring them to the state head-quarters for repair.
Governor Tong mentions that some tractors were not in-use last year due to technical problems.
He states that all of them will be used this year to produce enough food to supply other areas.
Governor Tong is also requesting the people to do manual work to support their families as they wait for rain.
He also encourages parents to take their children to school.
Governor Tong was addressing a public rally at Tonj Freedom Square upon his arrival from Juba on Saturday.
