Authorities in Imotong State banned travel along Torit-Juba and Magwi roads following repeated killings and looting of civilians.
Local authorities say both public and private travels are suspended until further notice, Radio Emmanuel reports.
Eddy William Ponsiano Torit Mayor announced Thursday evening following repeated road attacks by unidentified armed men.
He says the decision was reached following a meeting to allow the state security agents carry out operations before announcing safe travelling along the two roads.
Mayor William says the security is pursuing the criminals to ensure that the road is safe once and for all.
He advises passengers and drivers to be patient.
Many passengers and drivers have welcomed the decision as good as long as there will be no more road attacks.
On Wednesday, two people were killed and six including a driver was injured when unidentified armed men attack a bus travelling from Torit to Juba.
