Civilian population was protected during Christmas and New Year celebrations, Wau State Coordinator of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO appreciated the state government on Thursday.
CEPO Stephen Robo Musa made the remarks after a night police patrol arrested five armed robbers in Hai Jazeera at 1:30 AM, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
Robo urges the government to provide security in residential areas for the IDPs to return to their homes.
The Coordinator also called on the State Relief and Rehabilitation Commission to assess the needs of the returnees as some of them lost everything.
Last year in June fighting erupted in Wau town and caused mass displacement.
