Eastern Equatoria leadership pledged to fight corruption to improve development in the state.
The state executive, legislative and judiciary arms made the commitment on Saturday during the launch of a anti-corruption commission at the state Parliament.Eastern Equatoria governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, appealed to citizens to help the state to fight the vice before the upcoming referendum.
Mr. Lobong said fighting corruption contributed to the citizens’ wellbeing and attracted development partners.
Five commissioners from Magwi, Ikwoto, Kapoeta South, Kapoeta North and Lafon/Lopa present at the function promised to establish anti-corruption Fora at their counties.
The Director General of State co-ordination for Southern Sudan Anti-corruption Commission, Francis Bassan, said the vision of the government was to establish a corruption free Southern Sudan.
He added that government of Southern Sudan had the mission of mainstreaming and prioritizing measures and reforms to fight corruption in the region.
