The Eastern Equatoria government launched today its three-year education programme to strengthen the teaching of mathematics and sciences.
Eastern Equatoria state minister for Education, Science and Technology, Michael Lopuke Lotyam, told Emmanuel Radio that the programme called Strengthening Mathematics and Science in Southern offered in-service training for Science and Mathematics teachers.Mr. Lopuke said that about 180 eastern Equatoria teachers were targeted to benefit from the programme.
Mr. Lopuke attributed the low performance of Eastern Equatoria state students in science and mathematics to lack of proper teachers and equipment.
He said four secondary schools this year received furnished laboratories to boost science teaching in the state.
