Tombura/Yambio Catholic Diocese launches child protection policy

Tombura/Yambio Catholic Diocese on Wednesday officially launched a child protection policy for the first time.
 
Reverend Fr. John Ngbapia, Development Director introduced the booklet to the congregation under the theme: ‘Let the children come to me, for the Kingdom of God belongs to them’.
 
The purpose of the policy is to establish procedures for safeguarding child matters and ensure that all diocesan personnel are aware of how to recognize signs of child abuse, Fr Ngbapia said.
 
Gbudwe Acting Governor, Jackson Ezekiel Bugua appreciates the Catholic Church for the positive initiative that contributes greatly to the welfare of children in the state.
 
UNMISS Coordinator in Western Equatoria Koliab Nahataba promised their full support for children.
 
The Diocesan Child Protection Policy stipulates that all the staff working in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio must adhere and abide by the document.
 
The Policy Document was launched on Wednesday with holy mass celebration with small children at St Mary Catholic Parish in Yambio.
