The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has presented Disaster Management Framework to reduce hazards such as drought, flood, bushfire, malaria and sleeping sickness.
The policy aims at preventing and reducing risks of disasters, says Banak Joshua, Director of Disaster Management.
He says the framework also aims at increasing preparedness.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator, Eugene Owusu, decries the fact that disasters cause destruction, loss of lives, poverty and hopelessness.
He says recovering from disasters requires huge amount of resources and time.
The Disaster Management Framework is another reminder that South Sudan should avoid conflict-caused calamities as much as possible.
