Netherlands announced donating five million Euros to the World Food Programme or WFP for buying food to support the vulnerable people in South Sudan.

The Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen said WFP will use the money to feed over 100 thousand women and children facing acute food insecurity.

Ploumen stresses on the need to act now to prevent famine and mass starvation.

The Minister added that the contribution will also be used to support the most vulnerable people including, pregnant and lactating mothers.

Ploumen announced the contribution to WFP last week during a visit to Bidibidi refugee settlement in Uganda.

Uganda is currently hosting more than five hundred thousand South Sudanese refugees.
