Parliament approves National Budget of 38.1 billion pounds

The National Legislature has finally approved the budget to the tune of 38.1 billion South Sudanese Pounds far from previous proposal of 22.3 billion pounds.
 
By endorsing the budget, the legislature has cleared itself from difficult job, says Goc Makuac Mayol, Economy Cluster Chairperson.
 
The task is now back to the Ministry of Finance, he declares.
 
Finance Minister, Stephen Dhieu Dau says the budget will address peace and economy.
 
Its implementation will mark diversification of the economy through agriculture, forestry and fisheries, he says.
 
The minister also says the budget execution will mean improvement of infrastructure and delivery of basic services such as health and education.
 
The Finance Minister discloses that the budget has a shortage of 200 Million US Dollars which is about 40 percent of the total amount.
 
The National Legislature has taken over 40 days working on the budget.
 
The legislature made the approval last Friday in an extraordinary session.
