Yei Catholic Diocese on Sunday launched a peace initiative call ‘Youth united for peace’ with the motto: ‘Together we develop’.
The initiative will hold capacity building and public rallies on peace, advocacy and pastoral activities including prayers, retreat, conferences, games and sports, Radio Easter reported.
South Sudanese will achieve a culture of peace when citizens understand their problems, says Richard Taban, Executive Director of St Augustine Family Organization.
Citizens will have skills to resolve the conflict in various states and the country, he adds.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe calls on South Sudanese to work for a lasting peace through dialogue.
He also appeals for respect for diversity of tribes, unity and love for one another.
Bishop Lodu encourages the peace initiative and leaders at all levels to be courageous in working for harmony.
The Youth for Peace was launched under the theme: ‘The Lord will gather all nations in the eternal peace of God’, Isaiah 2:4.
St Augustine Family Organization supported the peace initiative.
