Yei Traffic Police chief urged motorists to bring new and old vehicles for inspection before putting them to public use.
The director of Traffic Police for Yei River County, Andrew Kenyi, told Radio Easter that lack of inspection of vehicles and motorcycles is the major cause for road accidents in the county.Mr. Kenyi explained that last week two trucks collided on Yei River Bridge because one of the vehicles did not have brakes.
He added that the motorists should come for monthly inspections in a bid to reduce the rate of road accidents in the area.
Mr. Kenyi said about twenty people received medical treatment at Yei civil hospital last month due because of road accidents.
The traffic police chief warned drivers not to overtake at high speeds and at the wrong side adding that they should keep the right and be aware of pedestrians and animals.
Mr. Kenyi urged relatives of people injured in road accidents not to take the law into their hands by attracting drivers involved in it.
