President Salva Kiir’s cabinet on Friday approved an immediate deployment of Regional Protection Force to South Sudan.

Deputy Government Spokesperson, Akol Paul Kordit tells journalists in Juba that the cabinet has allowed the deployment unconditionally anytime from Friday.

The approval comes as a surprise given previous statement of discontent from the presidency.

Paul says the unconditional approval is a signal of cooperation with the international community.

The Deputy Spokesperson says President Kiir held a sideline meeting with his Sudanese counterpart, Hassan Omar Al Bashir in Equatoria Guinea on bilateral relations during a recent visit.

He describes President Kiir’s move as victory of diplomacy.

The Regional Protection Force in South Sudan is a new mandate of the United Nations Mission.

Recently an anonymous UN source indicated that the deployment of the protection force in response to July violence was a political process still under negotiation.
