South Sudan Council of Churches on Thursday launched sixteen days of activism to reduce violence in the country.

Women Desk Coordinator Agnes Wasuk Sarafino says the two-day workshop is to equip religious leaders with skills to raise awareness in all communities on negative effects of fighting.

She urges all stakeholders to work for lasting peace before people become more violent.

Another activist, Lona James, condemns raping of women and girls in the ongoing war.

She urges the authorities to bring perpetrators caught red handed to book.

The workshop that attracted about 50 participants under the theme: ‘From peace in the home to peace in the world’, is expected to close on Friday.
