Citizens complain worsening economic situation in Nuba Mountains

Citizens in Heiban County of the Nuba Mountains complained that the economic situation in the region is getting worse every day.
 
Achol Saam Ulok, a mother of nine children, on Wednesday told Radio Voice of Peace that traders are demanding baobab fruits and okra for exchange of goods.
 
She added that three kilos of sorghum now cost 100 South Sudan Pounds which the poor people like her cannot afford to buy.

Radio Voice of Peace toured a local market in Kumbur Payam on Saturday and discovered lack of goods and the doubling of prices of commodities.
 
The region experienced sudden scarcity of goods in the markets after authorities attempted to regulate prices last month.
