The Minister of Interior says the freed inmates who acquired technical skills in prison should be recruited into the police and prison services.

Michael Chiengjiek made this recommendation on Tuesday during the graduation of over 100 inmates and support staff at Juba Central Prison, Radio Bakhita reports.

He says the inmates have developed skills qualifying them to be police and serve in the prison.

Minister Chiengjiek says some prisoners will be trainers of their colleagues.

He encourages the graduates to serve as goodwill ambassadors to reform other people.

Akello Sharon, one of the ten female inmates, who graduated in tailoring promises to use the knowledge gained to start her own dressmaking shop.

Her colleague Christine Amonyi Gabriel is proud to be a hairdresser.

She says will show people what she learnt from the prison.

The graduation brought together many officials, including Ministers of Interior and Labour and Public Service, UNDP Country Director, representative of the ambassador of Netherlands, Inspector General of Police among others.
