Parliament adjourns debate on National Budget to Tuesday

The National Legislature on Monday postponed debate on the Budget for 2016/2017 fiscal year to Tuesday.
 
Speaker Anthony Lino Makana rules postponement on parliamentary debate on the budget to the next day.
 
He cites tiredness of parliamentarians and the need to have sober minds to discuss the budget.
 
Economy Cluster Chairperson, Goc Makuac Mayol presented the Budget report with observations and recommendations in its second reading for discussion.
 
He calls on the executive to implement economic reforms to control public expenditure to stabilize the economy.
 
The economic specialized committee discovered disturbing budget indiscipline by the government especially the Ministry of Finance, says MP Makuac.
 
He points out that peace is a precondition for any economic recovery to be realized in South Sudan.
 
The Chairperson says insecurity, excess borrowing; dependency on oil revenue and high inflation rate of over 800 percent will continue to block economic recovery efforts in the country.
