One thousand and forty-three internally displaced persons or IDPs are in need of humanitarian assistance in Upper Nile, reports UN refugee agency or UNHCR.

The displacement was due to the conflict between armed groups and host community in the border area of Shatta Boma, 20 kilometers from Doro refugee camp.

Following the joint assessment of IDPs in September, UNHCR confirmed that over fifty thousand IDPs are due to receive relief aid.

The registered IDPs comprised 66 percent families of persons with special needs and 63 percent is children below 18 years of age.
