United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS proposed a ‘forward operating base’ in Yei, said official.
UNMISS Civil Affairs Officer, Nino Gerardo Lasin, after meeting religious leaders in Yei on Wednesday, said the operating base was proposed by the team that visited Yei from October 19 to 24, Radio Easter reported.
He was responding to questions raised by church leaders about any hope of establishing a base in Yei to protect civilians.
Gerardo said if UNMISS starts operation in Yei, it would be a deterrence in the name of protection of civilians.
The Civil Affairs Officer could not give further details on when UNMISS will start operation in Yei.
