The number of people living with HIV/AIDS is on increase in Yei River County.
Yei County AIDS Commission coordinator, Chris Issa, told Easter Radio that reports from antiretroviral (ARV) treatment centres show that the rate of HIV infections is on increase.He added that there were some 1200 people on ARV treatment.
Mr. Issa added that the awareness about the virus is extremely low and most people have little knowledge about the ways of HIV transmission.
He added that lack of knowledge on HIV prevention together with multiple sex partners is responsible for the increase of AIDS in the county.
Mr. Issa said that another alarming issue is the stigma and discrimination of HIV positive people.
