Local authorities in Yei have restricted selling of alcohol at homes in residential areas of Atlabara, Tarawa, Peace and Fata Dus.
Alcohol sale must be kept inside and not put outside at homes, Radio Easter reports.
Regina Jamba, chief of Tarawa area says the move came after community leaders and local area chiefs found out that alcohol is triggering unnecessary gunshots at night.
She explains that those who are drunk resort to unnecessary gun shooting posing fear to residents.
Chief Jamba says a woman found selling alcohol outside will be fined to pay one thousand South Sudanese Pounds and her alcohol poured down.
The area chief made the statements at St Comboni Chapel on Sunday.
