The renowned Leader of Minority in National Legislative Assembly was elected Chairman of Democratic Change or DC Party to replace Dr Lam Akol Ajawin who resigned following July violence.
MP Onyoti Adigo Nyikwech was nominated and elected in an extraordinary National Leadership Council meeting in Juba on Saturday unopposed.
Meanwhile, Democratic Change Party Secretary-General, Deng Bior boycotted the election process.
He accused Donald Gideon Azomuna, the former Acting Chairman of the party of organizing illegal National Leadership Council meeting.
He argued that there was no genuine agenda for the meeting.
In a separate development on Saturday, unidentified attackers shot dead more than ten spectators of football at Gurei residential area of Juba evening.
Over ten spectators were wounded in the attack.
The attackers fired indiscriminately at the sports’ club and ran away.
Security personnel are still pursuing the assailants.
