United Nations Population Fund or UNFP and the government on Monday launched the State of World Population Report, 2016 in Juba.

The report was under the theme: ’10: How our future depends on a girl at this decisive age’.

The report focuses on the ten-year-old girl, says Rachel Nyadak Paul, Presidential Advisor on Gender and Human Rights.

She adds that the State of Population Report analyzes the relationship between supporting and investing in the health and well-being of girls.

UNFPA South Sudan Country Representative, Esperance Fundra says girls are seen as commodities to be sold for marriage, childbearing and sexual exploitation.

She points out that child pregnancy leads to health risk and school dropout.

Fundra believes that when a girl enjoys her rights including education, health and protection from early marriage and pregnancy, she can realize her full potential.

The girl will also be better equipped to find a job, good earnings and many opportunities, she adds.
