SPLM secretary General refuted the NCP suggestion to postpone the Abyei Referendum calling it an irresponsible statement against the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Pagan Amum told SCR News that the postponement of the Abyei referendum was an attempt to destroy the peace process.

Mr. Amum accused the NCP of going back on its word due to greed affirming that the latter is only interested in the oil in Abyei and not in the rights of the Misseriya.

He called upon NCP not to allow their greed for oil to destroy peace in the region.

Mr. Amum said that the SPLM and the NCP would resume their talks on Abyei in Addis Ababa on October 27 or 28.

He added that the SPLM will persuade the NCP to ensure peace and the full implementation of the CPA.
