Japanese Ambassador in South Sudan said they were about to resume Juba River Port expansion project if security situation returns to normalcy.

Kiya Masahiko told Journalists in Juba on Monday that some projects were suspended following the fighting in Juba in July, Radio Bakhita reported.

Some of the suspended initiatives include construction of Freedom Bridge and Juba water supply, he added.

Ambassador Masahiko called on the government to cooperate with the international community for the initiatives to continue.

Japanese Defence Minister recently visited Juba to inspect the activities UN peacekeeping operations are undertaking.
