Minister of Education commits to promote girls’ education

The Minister of General Education says he will continue to implement policies aiming at closing gender gap in schools.

Deng Deng Hoc made the statement during the celebration of the International Day of the Girl-Child at the Juba Girls Secondary School, Radio Bakhita reports.

He says measures to enforce girl-child education include punishing parents and taking legal action against teachers involving in sex affairs with school girls.

Minister Deng says the implementation of the law is vital in minimizing gender gap in education.

The minister says the number of girls in schools have increased in recent years.

Minister Deng encourages schools in South Sudan to have peace clubs to build and promote a culture of peace.
