There is restoration of community confidence as security situation improves in Yei River State, says Governor David Lokonga Moses.
Governor Lokonga made the remarks while chairing a Council of Ministers meeting in Yei this week, Radio Easter reports.
He says the recent visit of Presidential Advisors over security matters in Yei has a positive impact.
Presidential Advisor on Political and Security Affairs, Daniel Awet Akot and Special Affairs Advisor, Clement Wani Konga addressed a rally in Yei denouncing war and stressing the need for better working relations between government forces and the civil population.
Stephen Lado Onesimo, the State Government Spokesperson says the security situation in Yei River State is normalizing.
Governor Lokonga says the state government is working hard to open the highway from Yei, Morobo and Kaya, Spokesperson Lado says.
Lado urges Members of Parliament, ministers, community and church leaders to continue building confidence of the civil population.
Nevertheless, residents of Lutaya Residential Area have reported gunshot incidents within and in neighbouring area of Sanja Siri.
On Thursday and Friday morning, some residents of Lutaya area relocated to Yei town.
But, the state government spokesperson earlier attributed gunshots’ incidents to ‘armed criminals’ with intention of looting people’s property.
