‘Yei is sick and tired’ and needs dialogue to resolve its issues in particular the worsening insecurity, said Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs.
Daniel Awet Akot said President Salva Kiir wants resolution of pressing issues in Yei through ground consultations to tackle all the grievances, Radio Easter reported.
State Governor David Lokonga Moses thanks the delegation for the visit, meant to seek ways forward to resolve the challenges of the people of Yei.
He says previous resolutions made by South Sudan communities co-existing in Yei to improve the situation in the area were forwarded to the presidency.
Lokonga says the presidency is now proving the presented grievances on the ground by sending a delegation.
Yei River County Paramount Chief, Peter Saeed Morjan, decries the situation and urged South Sudanese to stop bloodshed.
Citizens demand free movement, end to unnecessary arrests, access to perform agricultural activities and withdrawal of forces in residential areas for displaced people to return to their homes.
They also condemned killing of civilians and called for an amicable resolution of grievances between the government and the armed groups.
The statements were made on Sunday in a public gathering at EPC to hear voices of traditional leaders, religious leaders, members of parliament, security organs, elders, women and youth on the situation and its ways forward.
Yei River State has been experiencing insecurity along highways and towns since the outbreak of 2013 violence, worsened by July renewed fighting in Juba.
