Camp management started a fingerprint registration and issuing identity cards to internally displaced persons or IDPs at the UN Protection of Civilians site in Juba.
IOM, ACTED and UNHCR are working with WFP, Concern, Handicap International, THESO and community representatives to do the exercise.
IOM in statement on Friday said the three-week registration will improve response planning and IDPs access to humanitarian services at the site.
The registration follows population count in August and subsequent WFP verification which enabled food distributions in September.
The methodology minimizes duplication, absentees and errors found in registration.
To accommodate new arrivals and mitigate the impact of overcrowding in the congested site, IOM has constructed more than 170 new shelters in the site, she added.
