Four point eight million people are suffering from ‘severe shortage of food’ in South Sudan, says UNDP Acting Country Director.

Jean Luc Stalon told the press on Thursday in Juba that education indicators are also alarming.

Luc says peace should not be just a slogan, but there should be action for change as the welfare of the people is important in human development.

The Acting Country Director clarifies that the World Bank report on income in the young country is about 1.5 to 2000 US Dollars which is huge money and does not reflect the welfare of the people.

He was speaking after UN Peace Building Funds on Wednesday announced receiving 151 million US Dollars in pledges from member states.
