A United Nations Human Rights Commission expressed ‘deep concern’ over violations and the slow implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan.

Yasmin Sooka, the Chairperson of the Commission reported that they observed the deplorable conditions under which IDPs live in the young country.

The official said the Commission is also concerned about the ongoing impunity and lack of accountability for serious crimes and human rights violations in South Sudan.

She revealed a plan to return to South Sudan later this year before reporting to the Human Rights Council in March 2017.
