Wau State is facing severe food shortage due to low production this year, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Wealth confirmed on Wednesday.
Santino Uyu Madai told Radio Voice of Hope that most of the citizens in southern and western parts of the town did not cultivate this year due to the current insecurity.
Uyu stressed that most of the NGOs working in livelihood projects in the state concentrated only in former Jur River County.
He said only 50 farmers managed to cultivate only three hundred and fourteen hectors of land.
The minister expressed state government’s commitment to support all farmers with tractors, ox-ploughs and other farming tools next year to fight food insecurity.
