About one thousand people from Dam residential area in Yei have crowded the church compound of Immanuel Cathedral since Saturday.

This followed the killing of one person by unknown gunmen at Lutaya and day shootings in the area on Saturday, Radio Easter reported.

The internally displaced people fear returning to their respective areas.

They are mostly women and children who are living in bad situation, lacking food, clean water and medical services.

Bishop Luate says eight pregnant mothers are among the displaced people who are tired and staying in very frightening situation.

He described the situation as very terrible as insecurity increases and problems become many.
