Development charity to enlighten public on harmful practices

The Institute for Social Development in the Nuba Mountains is planning to enlighten the public on harmful traditional practices.
 
Institute Secretary Mahana Bashir told Radio Voice of Peace on Tuesday that they will soon carry out meetings and workshops on effects of fighting and bad practices including early marriage to promote girl child education 
 
He added that genuine development starts with knowledge.
 
Bashir says the Institute is advocating for better change through respect of different races, religions and tribes by combat tribalism, nepotism and other bad cultures.
 
The secretary said the Institute and Young Men Christians Association want to build the spirit of togetherness so that youth of Nuba Mountains work jointly to achieve development.
 
Bashir mentioned that that many cases of killing in the region were not the culture of Nuba people.
 
He called on young men and women to maintain their cultures and leave the imported ones.
