The local chief of Thony community of Manyang-Ngok County in Tonj State reported that the flood has affected immature crops in many farms and that poor harvest is expected this year.

Dhal Yak told Radio Don Bosco on Monday that only those who cultivated in April have managed to harvest their groundnuts.

The chief encourages people of South Sudan to be serious with cultivation because it is difficult to survive without commodities in the market.

Similar cases of flood destroying crops before the harvest are being experienced in the Tonj East counties and parts of Thiet County.

This year, many communities embarked on agriculture in Tonj State, responding to the call and national campaign of eradicating hunger in South Sudan.
