Citizens of Wau State raised concerns over the increasing prices of meat in markets in August.
One of the citizens, Elizabeth Daniel, says citizens cannot afford to buy meat with the current prices as many are sheltering in IDPs camps, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
Butchers’ representative, Andrew Mayar, said they decided to sell meat with their own prices due to high cost of cows.
He added that they did not receive any written document from the Municipal authorities.
Last week, former Mayor of Wau, Akol Akol Ajith, ordered all butchers to reduce the prices of meat to 50 SSP.
The order forced the butchers in Wau markets to stop slaughtering cows for the last three days.
