Five gunmen broke into the department of Gender and stole fifty-three bags of school materials last Saturday night, says Acting Director-General of Gender, Child and Social Development.

Lino Unango Albino says they opened a case on Monday and the same day one suspect was arrested selling UNICEF notebooks, Radio Voice of Hope reports.

He adds that the culprit is now under police custody and security agents are investigating the issue.

Unango explained that the stolen materials include school bags, notebooks, balls, sports uniforms and many others.

He adds that the missing materials were donated by the UNICEF to be distributed to school children who are sheltering in the IDPs camps.

Unango appeals to the security organs to apprehend those found selling UNICEF materials in the markets.

The suspect caught selling exercise books given by UNICEF is the police custody.
