Young Men Christian Association or YMCA on Monday opened the first inter-religious youth conference in Heiban County of the Nuba Mountain, under the theme: ‘The way to change’.
YMCA Director Kocho Shahin said the three-day forum is to make young Christians and Muslims learn religious values of love, unity and reconciliation to build peace in the region.
Combat tribalism, corruption and work for the nation that accommodates everybody, Shahin advised the youth.
YMCA Secretary for Social Development of Mana Bashir told the youth to learn to resolve their problems and be co-operative.
He emphasized that there are many elderly, widows and orphans in need of help from the young people in the region.
The Secretary encouraged the youth to take education seriously and use the knowledge they gain in an appropriate way.
The deputy governor and a number of authorities in the region, opened the three-day conference.
