Torit Apostolic Administrator says the Catholic Church is willing to talk to armed youth in the Imotong State to lay down guns and accept dialogue.
Monsignor Thomas Oliha says the violence in the state is causing a lot of sufferings and death to innocent civilians, Radio Emmanuel reports.
He says Catholic Church is already talking with the armed youth to get their ‘grievances’ to have a dialogue after consulting the state government.
The Apostolic Administrator says they are ready to advise the warring parties to negotiate because the Church cannot sit back and watch the people of God suffering.
Monsignor Oliha says the dialogue will help bring back people who have fled their areas.
He adds that the conflict has interrupted farming and is making roads impassable.
Davidica Ikai, Itwak Women Group chairperson in Imotong State, welcomes the Catholic Church initiative and that its neutrality will give trust to the armed group.
She suggests to the Church to first listen to the problems of the fighting groups before resolution.
The government of Imotong State is yet to comment.
