Torit Municipal authorities on Monday arrested at least six bar operators for opening during working hours.

Two of the victims who did not want their names mentioned were charged one thousand South Sudanese Pounds each, Radio Emmanuel reports.

They told Journalists on Wednesday that the ban was bias.

Ugandan and Kenyan communities complain that the laws are bias and target only foreign bars owners leaving out those operated by the nationals.

Mark Barasa, Chairperson for the Kenyan Business Community in Torit, says the order is denying his fellow Kenyans their daily bread.

Eddy William Ponsiano, Torit Town Mayor, says the order was meant to encourage people to cultivate.

He says part of the order also bans playing cards and idle gathering.

Jean Marie is the Human Rights Activist in Torit. He says such laws should be applicable to all business people and those involved should get advance notification.
