The chairman of Trade in Debi area of Hieban County in Nuba Mountains urged the authorities to regulate prices in markets.
Musa Abdul Kherim told Radio Voice of Peace on Wednesday that commodity prices were getting out of control.
He said the prices surprisingly increased on a market day in Debi on Wednesday.
The leader cautioned the authorities to step in to control the situation to avoid the suffering of people in the region.
Abdul Kherim appealed to the concerned authorities to make laws that regulate prices to keep a few basic things rather cheaper.
Traders say that the increase in prices is because of the rise of the dollar against the pound.
