The authorities of Western Lakes States on Tuesday met business people in order to reduce prices of some food items and meat in the town.
The items to be reduced include sugar, biscuits, soaps and meat, Radio Good News reports.
One of the traders in Rumbek markets, Ibrahim Osman, said many traders left the country due to the inflation of dollar rates that has worsen the economic crisis.
He said only few traders remained doing business of slaughtering cows for sale in the markets.
Rumbek Central Town Clerk, Mabor Chawuop Mabor, said police are investigating butchers arrested for selling one kilo of meat for 200 South Sudanese Pounds.
He said the dealers are the problem because they buy the cow at a cheaper price from owners and sell it in the auction at a very high price.
The move has drawn mixed reactions from both the consumers and sellers in the state.
The meeting also called for the immediate reduction in the prices of fresh, dry beef and goat meat.
