The Acting Mayor of Tonj town on Saturday welcomed about one thousand internally displaced persons or IDPs who came from Wau, Raja and other places.
Arop Mark Mayol’s welcome came during a meeting at Kalkuel Boma block near Tonj air strip, Radio Don Bosco reports.
He said the meeting aimed to know where the IDPs came from and assess their living conditions.
Mayol urged the entire community of Tonj State to cooperate with the IDPs residing in the town.
He said Tonj Town Council authorities will forward the issue of IDPs to the concerned top officials in the state.
He expressed state government readiness to provide food and shelters to the IDPs.
