Church leaders in Yei River have formed a relief body known as ecumenical relief team to respond to the dire humanitarian situation in the state.
Bishop Hilary Luate Adeba of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan says that team is to analyze and come up with a way forward to deal with the current looming hunger in Yei, Radio Easter reports.
He cautions that if the situation of the blockage of the roads continues with no food coming to the town, there is a danger of starvation in Yei town.
Bishop Luate stresses the need for humanitarian assistance in Yei first to rescue the situation and the churches will work together to help Yei River State.
The Bishop on behalf of bishops of Yei spoke on Wednesday in a meeting organized by the state government to address the dire humanitarian situation.
