The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced new procedures to regulate entry of United Nations personnel and members of diplomatic missions into South Sudan.

The new rules require UN staff to notify the ministry three days before travelling to get approval before entering South Sudan, Radio Bakhita reports.

The regulations also forbid the Directorate of Immigration from issuing visas to UN and diplomatic personnel on arrival.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Acting Spokesperson, Thomas Kenneth Elisapana says the rules were developed for security purposes.

The Ambassador denies accusations that the government is trying to restrict movement of UN personnel in the country.

A number of states in South Sudan rejected in a peaceful demonstration foreign force intervention in the country.
